Our union delivered dozens of webinars, online sessions and lectures to raise awareness of the impacts and risks of COVID-19, targeting communities in Sudan as well as Sudanese people living abroad. In this campaign, we sought to explain the various preventative methods with a particular focus on the groups most vulnerable to the disease. The campaign also highlighted the psychosocial impacts of the pandemic and ways to overcome them.<\/p>\n

Following the success of our COVID-19 campaign, we launched a further campaign targeting COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy to spread a positive message about the importance and benefits of these vaccines among Sudanese communities and encourage them to get vaccinated. The campaign included interactive online sessions on social media platforms, technical support for the national vaccination programme in Sudan, illustrative posters and visual educational materials on television channels.<\/p>\n

Here is a list of our most prominent educational activities during the COVID-19 pandemic:<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n
    \n
  • A COVID-19 awareness programme focusing on the groups at risk of adverse outcomes, consisting of approximately 16 short lectures of 10\u201320 minutes (March\u2013May 2020).<\/li>\n
  • Webinars on COVID-19 and Occupational Health and the Global Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic (March\u2013May 2020).<\/li>\n
  • Supporting the COVID-19 Vaccine Campaign in Sudan by launching the first online platform to update the public on the progress of the campaign and address emerging concerns (six webinars were delivered March \u2013 September 2021). The programme was implemented jointly in cooperation with Sudan\u2019s Ministry of Health and the Sudan Office of the World Health Organisation.<\/li>\n
  • Short videos (seven in total) on the importance of the COVID-19 vaccination which were produced and broadcasted in collaboration with Sudan Bukra TV (March\u2013April 2021).<\/li>\n
  • The production and publication of a series of illustrative posters to dispel vaccine misconceptions and rumours (June\u2013November 2021).<\/li>\n
  • Interactive online educational sessions about the COVID-19 vaccination and the impacts of COVID-19 on mental health, which were delivered to the various Sudanese communities in the UK.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \u200fThe SDU-UK pays tribute to the UK-Sudanese doctors and healthcare workers we sadly lost during the COVID-19 pandemic. We honour and recognise the sacrifice made by these NHS heroes, who were dedicated to treating their patients during the difficult times of the pandemic.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
