Unfortunately, the area still relies on oxygen supplies transported from the capital, Khartoum, some 1,000 kilometres away.<\/p>\n<p>The much-needed project will be established at El-Fashir Teaching Hospital, which serves a population of approximately 3 million, of whom 64,000 are internally displaced.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to install a local oxygen generation station with an oxygen cylinder filling system and a supplementary pipeline network. The total cost of the project is approximately \u00a3120,000.<\/p>\n<p>The project will be managed by the SDU-UK in collaboration with the El-Fashir hospital administration, local authorities and the Association of Sudanese Medical Engineers in the UK (acting as the technical support team).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; North Darfur was one of Sudan\u2019s hardest-hit regions during the COVID-19 epidemic.
