Between the years 2016–2017, our union formed a medical emergency task force that brought together Sudanese public health specialists in the UK and colleagues from Sudan’s Ministry of Health. The group carried out an extensive and elaborate awareness campaign to highlight and warn against the consequences of the potential cholera outbreak amid a wave of rapidly spreading acute diarrhoea with significant mortality rates. In addition to the educational activity, the campaign involved financial and logistical support for local teams working in the affected states in Sudan.
