Social Entertainment

Our union is keen on providing entertainment activities for members and their families on a regular basis; usually coinciding with the annual meetings. We also organise social events reflecting the talents of our members and other Sudanese doctors in various cultural, artistic and humanities fields.

Among the cultural seminars and social events that we have organised recently:

  • The Art of the Sudanese Revolution (2019)
  • Medicine and Cinema (September 2020)
  • A Poetry Night on the Anniversary of the October Revolution (October 2020).
  • Novels and their role in depicting social change (August 2020).
  • A cultural event in memory of the late Sudanese singer Al Kabli and poet Al-Gaddal (August 2022).
  • A chat with BBBC presenter Zainab Badawi (March 2021).
  • Folklore in Sudan (January 2021)

The SDU-UK Cafe

The SDU-UK Cafe is a virtual gathering hosted by the SDU-UK and the Sudanese Psychiatrists Association in the UK & Ireland (SPA-UKI). It was inaugurated during the COVID-19  pandemic to improve morale among Sudanese doctors in the UK and for members to look out for each other. The Cafe brings together UK-Sudanese doctors to meet over a cup of coffee in our Zoom meeting and discuss social matters in a friendly and informal manner.
