We have been approached by a number of Sudanese junior doctors who came to the UK for the purpose of sitting their PLAB2 exam which was unfortunately cancelled due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The SDU-UK has written to both the Home Office and the General Medical Council (GMC) to explain the difficult predicament created by the Covid-19 pandemic for the stranded Sudanese doctors who have recently joined the SDU-UK as affiliate members.
We highlighted the gravity of the situation that these doctors have currently found themselves in. We requested extensions of their visas until December 2020 to allow them to sit their PLAB2 exam without having to return back to Sudan in the meantime, which will add unnecessary stress to their already complicated situation. We also requested that they are offered the earliest scheduled appointments to sit the upcoming PLAB2 exam which is planned to be held in the Autumn season of this year, and that their exam fees should be waived.
